I took this image at a RSPB conservation in London

Conservation status is not considered endangered although they are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act.

There are many species of Kingfishers but only one in England, the Common Kingfisher.  You can find them near rivers, canals and wetlands.  The males bill is black and the female has a red mark on the lower mandible.  Kingfishers have up to 3 broods a year and the chicks eat up to 18 fish a day, which equates to 100 per day their parents are under pressure to catch.

To see a Kingfisher you have to be extremley quiet and very lucky, thats my experience.  They are small, very quick and do not come close.  As I have said in previous shots patience is a vertue.  It is umbelieveable that nature can create such an electric coloured plumage of blue for their back and a gorgeus orange at the front.

A beautiful image you can recieve in minutes, download and print yourself straight away, no anxious waiting for the post to come.  This will look lovley in any room.
